This is a special one for me, because it was the first fatality
I've ever worked during my 10 years in the tow business.
This happened
on the Leverett on ramp to I-93 in Boston. The road curved sharply to the left,
but the driver didn't! The car rolled up onto it's right side and the un-belted
driver was thrown out of the passenger side window. He was squashed between the
side of the car and the guardrail, leaving a 75 foot smear..... There was even
enough meat left over to keep the sea gulls happy for a few days!...... And to
add insult to injury, the hood was totally ripped-off the car and thrown clear
of the elevated roadway, landing about 100 feet down below onto Nashua street,
right in front of the State Headquarters of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor
Vehicles!
This twisted mess was once a Ford Taurus!
This was a
double fatal accident that happened on Storrow Drive in Boston. The Taurus was
run off the road and into a bridge abutment by an idiot in a Porsche. It took 2
ramp trucks to recover all the pieces! The Porsche driver also hit a pickup
truck as he tried to get away from the scene.
Here's another photo of the same car........
